Finkel'stein nonlinear sigma model: interplay of disorder and interaction in 2D electron systems

I. S. Burmistrov

Published 2019-01-29Version 1

In this paper I briefly review recent theoretical results derived within the Finkel'stein nonlinear sigma model approach for description of interacting disordered electron systems. The examples include an electron system with two valleys, electrons in a double quantum well, electrons on the surface of a topological insulator, an electron system with superconducting correlations, and the integer quantum Hall effect.

Comments: The paper is prepared for the special JETP issue dedicated to the 100th anniversary of I. M. Khalatnikov. The review is based on cond-mat/0106446, cond-mat/0502488, arXiv:0801.2139, arXiv:1102.0084, arXiv:1305.820, and arXiv:1503.06540
