Spin Vortices of a two-dimensional Electron in inhomogeneous Magnetic Fields
Published 2019-01-22Version 1
We show that an inhomogeneous magnetic field can turn the spin texture of a two-dimensional single electron into a spin vortex. An analytical relation between the phases of the asymptotic eigenfunction and the components of the magnetic field is derived which reveals that the net topological charge q of the vortex can take on any q in Z. The ground-state spin textures with |q|=1,2 are illustrated numerically.
