We perform a Bayesian analysis based on two realistic equations of state undergoing a mixed phase transition from hadronic to quark matter. In order to mimic the thermodynamics of the pasta phases at the transition we introduce an effective description with one free parameter that includes the limiting case of the Maxwell construction for the first order phase transition. Furthermore, we present the corresponding results for compact star properties like mass, radius and tidal deformabilities and use them in the Bayesian analysis method together with empirical data in order to obtain model parameter probabilities.
