Quantum Dynamics of the HMF Model

We study the dynamics of the quantized Hamiltonian Mean Field (HMF) model assuming a gas of bosons in the large N limit. We characterize the full set of stationary states, and study the dynamics of the model numerically focussing on competition between classical and quantum effects. We make contact with the existing literature on the HMF model as a classical system, and stress universal features which can be inferred in the semi-classical limit. In particular we show that the characteristic chevrons studied in the classical model (see Barre et. al. 2002) also appear in the quantum dynamics, but are dressed by an interference pattern that can be described in terms of the Pearcey function.
