Temperature-driven pumping in coherent electron transport

Published 2016-01-21Version 1

We study temperature-driven adiabatic pumping in coherent mesoscopic devices. Charge pumping is demonstrated with a simple setup using an impurity Anderson model under periodic modulation of reservoir temperatures. We derive a formula for a pumping charge analogous to Brouwer's formula for weak Coulomb interaction, and discuss its properties. The most significant difference from incoherent temperature-driven pumping is that there is a sign change of the pump current originating from the sign of a second derivative of a spectral function.
