Here we discuss differences between the canonical and the grandcanonical ensembles due to both quenched disorder and thermodynamical effects. We show how these differences are related to spectral correlations of the system at hand, and evaluate the conditions (temperature, system's size) when the thermodynamic limit is achieved. We demonstrate our approach by evaluating the heat capacity, persistent currents and the occupation probability of single electron states, employing a systematic diagrammatic approach.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "1997-02-23T00:46:33.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "spectral correlations", "statistical ensembles", "mesoscopic systems", "single electron states", "systematic diagrammatic approach" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1016/S0960-0779(97)00017-9", "journal": "Chaos Solitons and Fractals", "year": 1997, "month": "Jul", "volume": 8, "number": "7-8", "pages": 1229 }, "note": { "typesetting": "LaTeX", "pages": 18, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "1997CSF.....8.1229K" } } }
