The fundamental time scale of the spontaneous speckle dynamics beyond the instability threshold is set by the largest of times $T_{\\mathrm{D}}$ and $\\tau_{\\mathrm{NL}}$, where $T_{\\mathrm{D}}$ is the time required for the multiple-scattered waves to propagate through the random sample and $\\tau_{\\mathrm{NL}}$ is the relaxation time of the nonlinearity. Inertial nature of the nonlinearity should complicate the experimental observation of the instability phenomenon.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2003-01-15T12:24:29.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "noninstantaneous kerr nonlinearity", "random medium", "speckle pattern", "nonlinear medium response", "fundamental time scale" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Optics Letters", "year": 2003, "month": "Apr", "volume": 28, "number": 8, "pages": 646 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 3, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2003OptL...28..646S" } } }
