A prominent family of methods for the study of quantum ground states are quantum Monte Carlo methods, and recently the full configuration interaction quantum Monte Carlo (FCIQMC) method has demonstrated great promise for practical systems. We combine the Feynman-Kitaev Clock with FCIQMC to formulate a new technique for the study of quantum dynamics problems. Numerical examples using quantum circuits are provided as well as a technique to further mitigate the sign problem through time-dependent basis rotations. Moreover, this method allows one to combine the parallelism of Monte Carlo techniques with the locality of time to yield an effective parallel-in-time simulation technique.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2014-10-07T20:00:06.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "03.67.Lx", "02.70.Ss", "03.67.Ac" ], "keywords": [ "clock quantum monte carlo", "real-time quantum dynamics", "interaction quantum monte carlo", "imaginary-time method", "configuration interaction quantum monte" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevA.91.012311", "journal": "Physical Review A", "year": 2015, "month": "Jan", "volume": 91, "number": 1, "pages": "012311" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2015PhRvA..91a2311M" } } }
