In the limit of large superconducting gap we obtain a Born-Markov description of the system dynamics. We calculate the current-phase relation and we find that the experimentally unavoidable presence of quasi-particles can dramatically modify the 0-pi standard transition picture. We show that photon-assisted quasi-particles absorption allows the dynamic switching from the 0- to the pi-state and vice-versa, washing out the 0-pi transition predicted by purely thermodynamic arguments.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2014-07-21T16:44:29.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "74.81.Fa", "74.25.F-", "74.45.+c", "74.50.+r" ], "keywords": [ "josephson junction", "standard transition picture", "coulomb interaction", "electromagnetic environment", "finite density" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.114.037003", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2015, "month": "Jan", "volume": 114, "number": 3, "pages": "037003" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2015PhRvL.114c7003A" } } }
