Clustering in a vertical strip pattern forms when strong gravity acts on heavy particles. This phenomenon is explained by the skewness of the flow velocity gradient in the gravitational direction experienced by particles, which causes horizontal convergence of particles.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2014-06-21T01:23:37.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "47.27.-i", "47.55.Kf" ], "keywords": [ "inertial particles", "gravity-driven clustering", "flow velocity gradient", "strong gravity acts", "horizontal convergence" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevE.89.061004", "journal": "Physical Review E", "year": 2014, "month": "Jun", "volume": 89, "number": 6, "pages": "061004" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2014PhRvE..89f1004P" } } }
