In a certain frequency range, the external coherent drive field hits multi-photon resonances which correspond to very high order transitions that cannot be excited at the given power of the driving field. We found that in this range the cavity field evolves into a robust semiclassical solution which is the mixture of the vacuum and an excited quasi-classical state. The system is reminiscent of optical bistability, however, here a single atom produces a telegraph signal for the outgoing intensity by switching between two states with large photon number difference. We calculate this behavior also for the Tavis-Cummings model representing three qubits in an existing circuit QED experimental setting.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2014-04-30T13:35:23.000Z", "comment": null, "journal": null, "doi": null }, { "version": "v2", "updated": "2014-08-29T07:18:30.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "strong coupling regime", "tavis-cummings model", "field hits multi-photon resonances", "coherent drive field hits", "drive field hits multi-photon" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1140/epjd/e2015-50861-9", "journal": "European Physical Journal D", "year": 2015, "month": "Mar", "volume": 69, "number": 3, "pages": 60 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2015EPJD...69...60D" } } }
