Using a quasistatic approximation scheme together with a plasmon eigenmode expansion, we show that EELS can be rephrased in terms of a tomography problem. For selected single and coupled nanoparticles we extract the three-dimensional plasmon fields from a collection of rotated EELS maps. Our results pave the way for a fully three-dimensional plasmon-field tomography and establish EELS as a quantitative measurement device for plasmonics.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-08-02T14:18:46.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "73.20.Mf", "68.37.Og", "78.20.Bh", "79.20.Uv" ], "keywords": [ "electron energy loss spectroscopy", "particle plasmon fields", "quasistatic approximation scheme", "fully three-dimensional plasmon-field tomography", "plasmon eigenmode expansion" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.111.076801", "year": 2013, "month": "Aug", "volume": 111, "number": 7, "pages": "076801" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2013PhRvL.111g6801H" } } }
