An upwind finite difference approximation is applied to the differential terms of the equation, and the composite trapezoidal rule to the scattering integral. The main results are positivity, stability, and convergence of the scheme. It is also shown that the scheme can be regarded as an iterative method for finding numerical solutions to the stationary transport equation. Some numerical examples for the two-dimensional problems are given.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-03-26T04:38:36.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "65M12", "65M06", "35R09" ], "keywords": [ "upwind finite difference scheme", "radiative transport equation", "convergence", "upwind finite difference approximation", "initial-boundary value problem" ], "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 14, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2013arXiv1303.6383H" } } }
