Another class of topological systems are topological superconductors (TSCs) with Majorana edge states. In this paper, we show how proximity induced s-wave superconductivity in the bulk of HgTe-QWs and in the presence of a Zeeman field can exhibit a TSC with chiral Majorana edge states. We calculate the topological invariants and the corresponding Majorana edge states explicitly within a four-band model accounting for inversion symmetry breaking terms due to Rashba spin-orbit coupling and bulk inversion asymmetry present in these QWs.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-02-20T17:58:01.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "chiral majorana edge states", "hgte quantum wells", "bulk inversion asymmetry", "corresponding majorana edge states" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "New Journal of Physics", "year": 2013, "month": "Aug", "volume": 15, "number": 8, "pages": "085008" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 18, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1220430, "adsabs": "2013NJPh...15h5008W" } } }
