We provide an optimal Gaussian strategy for quantum reading with phase-shift keying encoding that makes use of squeezed coherent light and homodyne detectors to largely outperform the Standard Quantum Limit, even in the presence of loss. This strategy, being feasible with current quantum optical technology, represents a viable prototype for a highly efficient and reliable quantum-enhanced optical reader.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2013-02-07T01:09:51.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "standard quantum limit", "gaussian quantum reading", "current quantum optical technology", "optimal gaussian strategy", "homodyne detectors" ], "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 8, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2013arXiv1302.1624D" } } }
