We interpret these transformations as `generalized coordinate transformations' in the doubled space by proposing and testing a formula that writes large transformations in terms of derivatives of the coordinate maps. Successive generalized coordinate transformations give a generalized coordinate transformation that differs from the direct composition of the original two. Instead, it is constructed using the Courant bracket. These transformations form a group when acting on fields but, intriguingly, do not associate when acting on coordinates.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2013-02-15T10:10:30.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "double field theory", "large gauge transformations", "writes large transformations", "finite gauge transformations", "generalized lie derivatives" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1007/JHEP02(2013)075", "journal": "Journal of High Energy Physics", "year": 2013, "month": "Feb", "volume": 2013, "pages": 75 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 40, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1122993, "adsabs": "2013JHEP...02..075H" } } }
