In particular, we show that there exists a duality between particle-hole and spin degrees of freedom in certain spin-orbit-coupled 1D platforms such as topological insulator edges. This duality results in a spin analogue of previously explored `fractional Josephson effects'---that is, the spin current flowing across a magnetic junction exhibits 4\\pi-periodicity in the relative magnetic field angle across the junction. Furthermore, the interplay between the particle-hole and spin degrees of freedom results in unconventional magneto-Josephson effects, such that the Josephson current is a function of the magnetic field orientation with periodicity 4\\pi.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2012-06-07T19:05:03.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "71.10.Pm", "03.67.Lx", "73.63.Nm", "74.78.Na" ], "keywords": [ "support majorana bound states", "spin degrees", "fractional josephson effects", "relative magnetic field angle", "1d quantum systems" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2013, "month": "Feb", "volume": 87, "number": 7, "pages": "075438" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 11, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2013PhRvB..87g5438J" } } }
