We show that a nonlinear coupling between the Josephson current and the magnetic field generates a Laplace force that induces a whirling motion of the nanowire. By performing an analytical and a numerical analysis, we demonstrate that at resonance, the amplitude-phase dynamics of the whirling movement present different regimes depending on the degree of inhomogeneity of the magnetic field: time independent, periodic and chaotic. Transitions between these regimes are also discussed.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2012-04-23T10:40:04.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "05.45.-a", "74.45.+c", "85.85.+j", "85.25.Cp" ], "keywords": [ "inhomogeneous magnetic field", "ac josephson current", "suspended nanowire driven", "magnetic field generates", "suspended nanowire forms" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevE.86.046208", "journal": "Physical Review E", "year": 2012, "month": "Oct", "volume": 86, "number": 4, "pages": "046208" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 7, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2012PhRvE..86d6208P" } } }
