In the case of easy-plane anisotropy, we obtain the phase diagram of this system at T=0. We show that the in-plane Kondo coupling destabilizes the Tomonaga-Luttinger phase of the spin-chain, and leads to two different phases: i) At strong Kondo coupling, the spins in the chain form Kondo singlets and become screened by the metallic environment, and ii) At weak and intermediate Kondo coupling, we find a novel dissipative phase characterized by diffusive gapless spin excitations. The two phases are separated by a quantum critical point of the Wilson-Fisher universality class with dynamical exponent $z\\simeq2$.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2012-07-25T15:59:20.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "75.10.Pq", "75.20.Hr", "75.40.-s" ], "keywords": [ "one-dimensional kondo chain", "metallic surface", "magnetic phases", "chain form kondo singlets", "in-plane kondo coupling destabilizes" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2012, "month": "Jul", "volume": 86, "number": 3, "pages": "035455" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 15, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2012PhRvB..86c5455L" } } }
