This is consistent with thermal equilibrium model estimates of ~ 8000K for the Warm Neutral Medium in galaxies, but not with the presence of a significant cold component. It is also consistent with, but not required by, the absence of CII* fine structure absorption in this system. Some possible implications concerning abundance estimates in narrow-line WNM absorbers are discussed.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2012-02-14T12:10:01.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "warm neutral medium", "damped lyman-alpha absorption system", "kinetic temperature", "lyman alpha absorption system", "single-component damped lyman alpha absorption" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1111/j.1365-2966.2012.20746.x", "journal": "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society", "year": 2012, "month": "May", "volume": 422, "number": 2, "pages": 1700 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 9, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 1088999, "adsabs": "2012MNRAS.422.1700C" } } }
