We show that the spin polarization in double-stranded DNA is significant even in the case of weak spin-orbit coupling, while no spin polarization appears in single-stranded DNA. Furthermore, the underlying physical mechanism and the parameters-dependence of the spin polarization are studied.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2012-01-23T22:28:56.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "87.14.gk", "72.25.-b", "85.75.-d", "87.15.Pc" ], "keywords": [ "dna double helix", "spin-selective transport", "length-dependent spin polarization", "high spin selectivity", "spin polarization appears" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.108.218102", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2012, "month": "May", "volume": 108, "number": 21, "pages": 218102 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2012PhRvL.108u8102G" } } }
