Because of the capacitive coupling between the channels, a tunneling event, in which an electron is transferred from a biased source lead to one of the two channels, generates propagating plasma mode excitations which carry fractional charges on the other edge channel. When these excitations impinge on a quantum point contact, they induce low-frequency current fluctuations with no net average current. A perturbative treatment in the weak tunneling regime yields analytical integral expressions for the noise as a function of the bias on the source. Asymptotic expressions of the noise in the limits of high and low bias are found.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2012-06-17T10:25:46.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "71.10.Pm", "73.43.-f" ], "keywords": [ "integer quantum hall state", "edge channel", "fractionalization noise", "regime yields analytical integral", "propagating plasma mode excitations" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.108.186404", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2012, "month": "May", "volume": 108, "number": 18, "pages": 186404 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2012PhRvL.108r6404N" } } }
