The main discovery channel for this W' is through associated production of the W' and top quark, yielding a top-quark pair plus an extra bottom quark jet as a signal. We do a full simulation of the signal and relevant backgrounds. We develop a method of analysis that allows us to conclude that discovery of the W' is promising at the LHC despite large standard model backgrounds. Bottom quark tagging of the extra jet is key to suppressing the backgrounds.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2011-08-18T03:31:25.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "13.38.Be", "13.85.Rm", "12.60.Cn", "14.70.Fm" ], "keywords": [ "associated production", "despite large standard model backgrounds", "lhc despite large standard model", "calculation", "top-quark pair plus" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review D", "year": 2011, "month": "Nov", "volume": 84, "number": 9, "pages": "095026" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 924330, "adsabs": "2011PhRvD..84i5026C" } } }
