The proposed formalism, characterized by a four- component spinorial wavefunction of the Bogoliubov de Gennes theory, allows to describe the spin flipping phenomena induced by noncollinear magnetizations in the scattering region. As a specific application of the theory, we analyze the conductance, the magnetoresistance and the generation of spin-torque produced by an applied voltage in a spin-valve system. Quantum size effects and quantum beating patterns both in the conductance and in the spin-torque are carefully described.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2011-07-05T09:00:35.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "73.23.-b", "72.25.Pn", "75.60.Jk", "72.15.Qm" ], "keywords": [ "spin active interfaces", "scattering theory", "magnetic/superconducting junctions", "buttiker describing particles transport", "component spinorial wavefunction" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2011, "month": "Jul", "volume": 84, "number": 2, "pages": "024531" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 12, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2011PhRvB..84b4531R" } } }
