The C60 molecule is actuated and moves along the system while it just randomly dances along the perpendicular direction. Increasing the temperature gradient increases the directed velocity of C60. It is found that the free energy decreases as the C60 molecule moves toward the cold end. The driving mechanism based on the temperature gradient suggests the construction of nanoscale graphene-based motors.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2011-05-12T15:49:22.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "68.43.-h", "65.80.Ck" ], "keywords": [ "graphene sheet", "directed motion", "nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations", "free energy decreases", "temperature gradient increases" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review E", "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevE.83.042601", "year": 2011, "month": "Apr", "volume": 83, "number": 4, "pages": "042601" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2011PhRvE..83d2601L" } } }
