We demonstrate that nonlocal correlations (entanglement) arise if and only if the fidelity between the two input Gaussian states falls under a threshold value depending only on their purities and on the transmissivity of the beam splitter. Our result clarifies the role of squeezing as a prerequisite for entanglement and provide a tool to optimize the generation of entanglement by passive devices.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v3", "updated": "2011-09-21T08:20:33.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "03.67.Mn", "03.67.Bg", "42.50.Dv" ], "keywords": [ "fidelity matters", "entanglement", "interference", "beam splitter", "input gaussian states falls" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.107.170505", "year": 2011, "month": "Oct", "volume": 107, "number": 17, "pages": 170505 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2011PhRvL.107q0505O" } } }
