A crucial aspect of our treatment is the incorporation of the principle of local covariance which amounts to formulate the theory without reference to a distinguished spacetime. In particular, this allows a homological construction of the Poisson algebra of observables in classical gravity. Our methods heavily rely on the differential geometry of configuration spaces of classical fields.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v5", "updated": "2011-07-05T17:23:02.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "classical field theory", "batalin-vilkovisky formalism", "functional approach", "generic globally hyperbolic spacetimes", "crucial aspect" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1007/s00220-012-1487-y", "journal": "Communications in Mathematical Physics", "year": 2012, "month": "Aug", "volume": 314, "number": 1, "pages": 93 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 42, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 885636, "adsabs": "2012CMaPh.314...93F" } } }
