A matrix technique which allows to identify directly the creation and annihilation operators will be presented. Then, the coherent states as simultaneous eigenstates of the annihilation operators will be derived, and they are going to be compared with those attained through the displacement operator method. The corresponding wave function will be found, and a general procedure for obtaining several expected values involving the canonical operators in these states will be described. The results will be illustrated through the asymmetric Penning trap.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v3", "updated": "2010-12-01T17:56:32.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "37.10.Ty", "03.65.Sq", "03.65.Ge", "37.30.+i" ], "keywords": [ "coherent states", "quadratic hamiltonians", "annihilation operators", "displacement operator method", "general procedure" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Journal of Physics A Mathematical General", "year": 2011, "month": "Jan", "volume": 44, "number": 3, "pages": "035304" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 19, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 867412, "adsabs": "2011JPhA...44c5304C" } } }
