For all two-mode Gaussian states, we calculate analytically the quantum discord and a related measure of classical correlations, solving an optimization over all Gaussian measurements. Almost all two-mode Gaussian states are shown to have quantum correlations, while for separable states, the discord is smaller than unity. For a given amount of entanglement, it admits tight upper and lower bounds. Via a duality between entanglement and classical correlations, we derive a closed formula for the Gaussian entanglement of formation of all mixed three-mode Gaussian states whose normal mode decomposition includes two vacua.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2010-07-15T19:53:58.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "03.67.-a", "03.65.Ta", "03.65.Ud" ], "keywords": [ "classical correlations", "two-mode gaussian states", "quantum discord", "admits tight upper", "mixed three-mode gaussian states" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2010, "month": "Jul", "volume": 105, "number": 3, "pages": "030501" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 2, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2010PhRvL.105c0501A" } } }
