The problem arises from a thermomechanical dissipative model describing hydrogen storage by use of metal hydrides. In order to treat the model from an analytical point of view, we formulate it as a phase transition phenomenon thanks to the introduction of a suitable phase variable. Continuum mechanics laws lead to an evolutionary problem involving three state variables: the temperature, the phase parameter and the pressure. The problem thus consists of three coupled partial differential equations combined with initial and boundary conditions. Existence and regularity of the solutions are here investigated by means of a time discretization-a priori estimates-passage to the limit procedure joined with compactness and monotonicity arguments.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2010-03-24T20:56:09.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "35Q99", "74F10", "74A99", "74N99" ], "keywords": [ "regularity results", "phase transition phenomenon thanks", "time discretization-a priori estimates-passage", "nonlinear pde system", "boundary value problem" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1002/mma.1390", "journal": "Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences", "year": 2011, "month": "Apr", "volume": 34, "number": 6, "pages": 642 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2011MMAS...34..642C" } } }
