Here, we report a similar effect for QPCs in an in-plane magnetic field, where currents are spin polarized but edge states are not formed. The nuclear polarization gives rise to hysteresis in the d.c. transport characteristics, with relaxation timescales around 100 seconds. The dependence of anomalous QPC conductance features on nuclear polarization provides a useful test of their spin-sensitivity.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v3", "updated": "2010-05-19T23:13:36.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "72.25.Dc", "73.23.Ad", "76.70.Fz" ], "keywords": [ "in-plane magnetic field", "nuclear polarization", "spin-polarized quantum hall edge states", "gaas quantum point contacts", "voltage bias drives transitions" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevB.81.125330", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2010, "month": "Mar", "volume": 81, "number": 12, "pages": 125330 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2010PhRvB..81l5330R" } } }
