The reversed process, or upconversion of these pairs back to single photons in a second crystal, is also possible. Here, we present experimental measurements of the upconversion rate with a controlled time delay introduced between the signal and idler photons. As a function of delay, this rate presents a full width at half maximum of 27.9 fs under our experimental conditions, and we further demonstrate that group delay dispersion of the photon pairs broadens this width. These observations are in close agreement with our calculations, thus demonstrating an ultrafast, nonclassical correlation between the signal and idler waves.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2009-09-10T18:03:29.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "42.50.Dv", "03.65.Ud", "42.65.Lm", "42.65.Re" ], "keywords": [ "entangled photon pairs", "time-resolved upconversion", "photon pairs broadens", "idler photon pairs", "group delay dispersion" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.103.123602", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2009, "month": "Sep", "volume": 103, "number": 12, "pages": 123602 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2009PhRvL.103l3602O" } } }
