We achieve sufficient sensitivity to resolve the resistance signals leading up to switching, including the variations between individual switching events. Analyses of pre-switching thermal fluctuations allow detailed measurements of coherence times and variations in magnetization precession amplitude. We find that with a small in-plane hard-axis magnetic field the magnetization dynamics are more spatially coherent than for the case of zero field.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2009-06-13T13:33:12.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "75.75.-c", "85.75.Dd" ], "keywords": [ "magnetic tunnel junctions", "single-shot time-domain studies", "spin-torque-driven switching", "small in-plane hard-axis magnetic field", "achieve sufficient sensitivity" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1103/PhysRevLett.104.097201", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2010, "month": "Mar", "volume": 104, "number": 9, "pages": "097201" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 13, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2010PhRvL.104i7201C" } } }
