The generated spin current depends on the distance from the barrier. It oscillates with the distance in the vicinity of the barrier and asymptotically reaches a constant value. The most efficient generation of the spin current (with polarization above 50%) occurs, when the Fermi energy is near the potential barrier maximum. Since the spin current in SOI medium is not unambiguously defined we propose to pass this current from the SOI region into a contacting region without SOI and show, that the spin polarization loss under such transmission can be negligible.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2009-02-03T20:23:47.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "potential barrier", "spin-orbit interaction", "two-dimensional structures", "electron current", "unpolarized electron flow acquires" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Journal of Physics Condensed Matter", "year": 2009, "month": "Mar", "volume": 21, "number": 12, "pages": 125801 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 11, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2009JPCM...21l5801T" } } }
