Asteroseismology of pulsating EHB stars has been performed on a number of objects, bringing us to the stage where comparisons of the inferred properties with evolutionary models becomes feasible. In this review I outline our current understanding of the formation and evolution of these stars, with emphasis on recent progress. The aim is to show how the physical parameters derived by asteroseismology can enable the discrimination between different evolutionary models.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2009-01-12T17:24:00.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "asteroseismology", "extreme horizontal branch stars", "evolutionary models", "pulsating ehb stars", "peculiar configuration" ], "tags": [ "review article", "journal article" ], "publication": { "doi": "10.1553/cia159s75", "journal": "Communications in Asteroseismology", "year": 2009, "month": "Mar", "volume": 159, "pages": 75 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 13, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 810816, "adsabs": "2009CoAst.159...75O" } } }
