With increasing field, the energy splitting first decreases down to zero and then to negative values, which implies a bonding-to-antibonding ground state transition. This effect is a consequence of the enhancement of the valence band spin-orbit interaction induced by the magnetic field, and it provides a flexible mechanism to switch the molecular ground state from bonding to antibonding.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2008-11-20T12:09:56.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "73.21.La", "75.30.Kz", "73.40.Gk", "78.67.Hc" ], "keywords": [ "longitudinal magnetic fields", "quantum dot molecules", "tunnel coupling", "valence band spin-orbit interaction", "bonding-to-antibonding ground state transition" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Applied Physics Letters", "year": 2008, "month": "Dec", "volume": 93, "number": 22, "pages": 223109 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008ApPhL..93v3109C" } } }
