A large charge current is induced when the transmission coefficient of the QPC jumps from one integer plateau to the next. Furthermore, for an open external circuit, the induced charge bias instead of the charge current is found to be quite large. It provides an efficient and practical way to detect spin bias by using a very simple device, a QPC or a STM tip. In addition, with the aid of magnetic field, polarization direction of the spin bias can also be determined.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2008-11-11T00:27:27.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "73.63.Rt", "72.25.-b", "73.23.-b" ], "keywords": [ "quantum point contact", "spin bias measurement", "open external circuit", "asymmetric spin bias", "large charge current" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Applied Physics Letters", "year": 2008, "month": "Oct", "volume": 93, "number": 14, "pages": 142107 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 11, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008ApPhL..93n2107X" } } }
