We show that the auxiliary field method is completely equivalent to the envelope theory, which is another well-known procedure to analytically solve eigenequations, although relying on different principles \\textit{a priori}. This equivalence leads to a deeper understanding of both frameworks.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2009-02-02T09:43:24.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "03.65.Ge", "02.10.Ud", "03.65.Fd" ], "keywords": [ "auxiliary field method", "envelope theory", "equivalence", "efficient technique", "well-known procedure" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "AIP", "journal": "Journal of Mathematical Physics", "year": 2009, "month": "Mar", "volume": 50, "number": 3, "pages": 2102 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2009JMP....50c2102B" } } }
