We study the ASM on the square lattice, in different geometries, and a variant with directed edges. Cylinders, through their extra symmetry, allow an easy determination of the identity, which is a homogeneous function. The directed variant on square geometry shows a remarkable exact structure, asymptotically self-similar.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2008-10-05T13:16:54.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "abelian sandpile model", "identity configuration", "explicit characterization", "complex quasi-self-similar structures arise", "rectangular portions" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "Journal of Physics A Mathematical General", "year": 2008, "month": "Dec", "volume": 41, "number": 49, "pages": 495003 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 11, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "inspire": 797993, "adsabs": "2008JPhA...41W5003C" } } }
