The zero-bias transport properties are shown to depend dramatically on the elemental composition of the electrodes, even though the shape of the transmission coefficients is very similar. By using alkaline materials it is possible to move the Fermi level from the HOMO-LUMO gap to the LUMO resonance and change dramatically the length dependence of the conductance of molecular wires, which opens the possibility of using molecules with different lengths and very similar conductances in nanoscale circuits. This method shows how to dramatically increase the conductance of molecular devices and alter qualitatively and quantitatively their electronic and transport properties.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v2", "updated": "2008-11-09T11:53:37.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "85.65.+h", "73.63.-b", "73.40.-c" ], "keywords": [ "fermi level", "molecular-electronic devices", "molecular electronics devices", "zero-bias transport properties", "transmission coefficients" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2008, "month": "Dec", "volume": 78, "number": 23, "pages": 235412 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 5, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008PhRvB..78w5412G" } } }
