We show that they can support mid-gap states which are localized in the vicinity of the domain wall and propagate along its length. With a finite density of domain walls, these states can alter the electronic properties of gapped graphene significantly. If the mid-gap band is partially filled,the domain wall can behave like a one-dimensional metal embedded in a semi-conductor, and could potentially be used as a single-channel quantum wire.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2008-05-31T16:46:23.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "75.60.Ch", "03.70.+k", "11.10.-z", "61.48.De" ], "keywords": [ "domain wall", "gapped graphene", "electronic properties", "support mid-gap states", "single-channel quantum wire" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review Letters", "year": 2008, "month": "Aug", "volume": 101, "number": 8, "pages": "087204" }, "note": { "typesetting": "RevTeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008PhRvL.101h7204S", "inspire": 1371735 } } }
