For two spin-1/2 systems subject to precession by different magnetic fields the achievement of orthogonalization is demonstrated for every scenario but a special one. This discrimination between evolutions is experimentally much simpler than procedures proposed earlier based on either sequential or parallel application of the unknown unitaries. A lower bound for the orthogonalization time is proposed in terms of the properties of the two Hamiltonians.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2007-10-18T19:39:17.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "03.67.-a", "03.65.Ta" ], "keywords": [ "evolution operators", "discrimination", "orthogonalization time", "broad conditions", "lower bound" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review A", "year": 2007, "month": "Oct", "volume": 76, "number": 4, "pages": "042322" }, "note": { "typesetting": "RevTeX", "pages": 7, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2007PhRvA..76d2322V" } } }
