Explicit theoretical results related to the known bulk properties are derived. We find out that longitudinal vibration modes can be cooled by electronic tunnel refrigeration far below the bath temperature provided the mechanical quality factors of the modes are sufficiently high. The obtained results apply to feasible experimental configurations.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2007-10-01T09:53:04.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "subjects": [ "72.10.Di", "63.20.K-", "63.22.-m", "72.15.Jf" ], "keywords": [ "longitudinal mechanical-mode cooling", "electron-phonon coupling", "metallic nanowire", "electronic tunnel refrigeration far", "narrow suspended metallic wire" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "publisher": "APS", "journal": "Physical Review B", "year": 2008, "month": "Jan", "volume": 77, "number": 3, "pages": "033401" }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 0, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2008PhRvB..77c3401H" } } }
