At certain relation between the spin-orbit coupling strength and curvature radius the tangential component of the electron spin becomes a conserved quantity for any spin-independent scattering potential that leads to a number of interesting effects such as persistent spin helix and strong anisotropy of spin relaxation times. The effect proposed can be utilized in the non-ballistic spin-field-effect transistors.", "revisions": [ { "version": "v1", "updated": "2007-05-22T14:32:10.000Z" } ], "analyses": { "keywords": [ "dimensional electron gases", "spin dynamics", "non-ballistic spin-field-effect transistors", "radial confinement asymmetry", "spin relaxation times" ], "tags": [ "journal article" ], "publication": { "journal": "New Journal of Physics", "year": 2007, "month": "Sep", "volume": 9, "pages": 346 }, "note": { "typesetting": "TeX", "pages": 4, "language": "en", "license": "arXiv", "status": "editable", "adsabs": "2007NJPh....9..346T" } } }
